For all those
Who think grace took flight
Abandoned you as a stow away
On a ship of clouds
I found a glint
In a fog of noise
She fell off a steam powered piano
Clattered down lanes robust
Like stolen goods naiveté
A free gift
Not the variety that sits in streaked windows
Porcelain white with butterfly bows
More a splintered crate
Shattering through skylights
Crashing into heavy shelves filled with books
Reference books not for taking home
Then like a feather dropping a steel bar
The good samaritans neighbour
Tasting metal and blood on my lip
Stallions taunting shriek defiance
I held the iron crow
For it was a weapon and a key
And pried the box gaping wide
Bleeding polystyrene cushioning
I questioned Jacobs limping stance
But from the corners materialised
A girl who had lived 100 years
Wiser, with ferocious clarity
Unfiltered like a child
Dangerous like comfort
Like the comfort of fire
She purred in my arms
Poured through my pores
We melded together
Talking till our eyelids draped
Till our hearts gave way
As two white chocolates melt
Under the heat from the moon
